The National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Latur

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed Maharashtra government to pay Rs12000Cr as fine according to the reports pubished on 9-Sep-22. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday imposed Environmental Compensation of Rs 12,000 crores on the state of Maharashtra for allegedly not managing solid as well as liquid waste management causing harm to the environment. Other related issues include pollution of 351 river stretches, 124 non-attainment cities in terms of air quality, 100 polluted industrial clusters, illegal sand mining etc. The fine was slapped in respect of gap in treatment of liquid waste and sewage i.e. 5420.33 MLD, compensation works out to Rs. 10840.66crores and compensation for un-remediated legacy waste to the extent of 3,94,19,287 works out roughly to about Rs. 1200 crores. The compensation amount was rounded off to Rs. 12,000/- crores by the NGT.

How to Register as a Hazardous Waste Recycler in Latur?

Companies or businesses can register themselves as Hazardous Waste Recyclers in Gorakhpur by personally visiting and applying at the Regional office of the Pollution Control Board of Gorakhpur, that is the Maharashtra Pollution Control board. They can also apply online by visiting the website of the Regional Office of the Maharashtra Pollution Control board. From there you will need to collect and fill the application form and submit it along with essential information and details in accordance with the need to recycle Hazardous and other wastes. Part D of the form should be filled carefully and should be attested by the applicant’s signature before submitting. Also make sure all the documents are attached that are listed in “Required Documents” section of the form. The form has to be submitted to the District Environmental Engineer of Latur city for scrutiny and check. After this concerned engineer will inspect and examine the site.
